The first bar that we spotted was Sidetracks. Our options were limited and time was tight. Knowing nothing of Arkansas drinking laws and bar times, we made the assumption that 1:30AM would be the earliest time for last call. My instinct told me to hop off of the interstate in West Little Rock to find a watering hole. We had just driven in from Oklahoma City. LOVE IT.It was 1AM on a late summer's Sunday night.
Definitely a place to express yourself.īest place ever. Cant wait for Madonnarama! Thanks guys!ĭisappointed to see the drag queens doing racist performances. lol #wadĮnjoyed an evening there watching the drag show and dancing. But certain nights dont go unless you sway tho. Great place to be around people you know. Went to see the rocky horror show last night, it was nothing short of amazing. I havent been yet just moved here from Texarkana but it look like a place i would like to come and check out tho Not the place for you if you give a damn about racial equality and acceptance of the fact that Black Lives Matter. The Sway community/family is open, accepting, and creatively stimulating. The best Little Rock nightlife has to offer. This club has had a history of racist incidents and performances, and the drag queens who work there have publicly shown their personal racial prejudice and transphobiaįunky downtown club which offers drageoke and magnificent female impersonators perform. Their shows are fresh and creative and never fail to entertain! Go when theres a drag show though, because these folks are fantastic. Thats a fact! When a club like this is attacked by an ignorant few, you know they are doing something right! And Club Sway has it all! Best drag, staff that cares for everyone, a safe environment to be yourself. The last one star reviewer has never been in Sway and doesnt know what they are talking about. The drag is amazing! They even had Bob the Drag Queen! Best gay bar in Arkansas by far. SPEND YOUR TIME AND MONEY ELSEWHERE.ĭont miss this bar!!! This club is sooooooo much fun! Club Sway is so diverse, ethnically and genderwise. I will never be visiting this club again, because I would never support a club which embodies proudly the lack of leadership and respect needed in order to look after a polite and respectful staff. Complaints have been registered multiple times with the owners, and in solidarity with the bigoted-acts in question, the club has retaliated to the community with comments and videos supporting ignorance and a lack of acceptance. Honestly this club embodies the "white gay" stereotype and everyone there is a page out of the same book: performers, patrons, and staff alike.Īn LGBT+ club should make you feel welcome and safe Sway will make you feel judged and unwanted.ĭisrespectful staff that actively works towards hiring acts whom are racist. Ive since changed my wardrobe and lost 45 lbs but I wont be going back even if RuPaul herself was there. Its hard to enjoy a show when the people around you are openly making fun of you for your clothes and appearance. The performers were all similar in appearance, style, genre, etc. We pretty much ignored her that whole time.Īlso it was dead at midnight on a Saturday which was the main disappointment. She, the MC, also talked and talked and talked about random stuff that wasnt interesting at all. But she spoke not in a womans voice but just a typical gay mans voice. And the MC of the evening was doing this sailor thing. Totally should pull a Mulan on you, right? The Queens were over the top. I am not an expert on drag but I tend to think its about feeling like you are at an Adele, Madonna, etc show but its actually a man. (Little Rock doesnt have anything for night life if you are under 21) The best thing about this club was that it is 18+ since I went with 2 friends who were only 20. A little pricey compared with what I am used to but that was Ok. Starting with the good: Drinks were good.
